Frost Unmanned USV Arrow 600 successfully launched in Askeröfjorden
USV Arrow 600 was successfully launched in Askeröfjorden, demonstrating its maneuverability and operational performance in realistic conditions.

Last month, Frost Unmanned carried out a full-scale launch and operational demonstration of its unmanned surface vessel (USV), Arrow 600, in the waters of Askeröfjorden, located near Stenungsund on Sweden’s west coast. The session brought together representatives from across the Swedish defence sector, including the FMV - Försvarets materielverk and the Swedish Armed Forces, offering an opportunity to observe the platform’s performance in a realistic operational environment.
The primary objective of the demonstration was to assess the vessel’s maneuverability, control architecture, and system responsiveness under mission-like conditions. Following a controlled water launch, Arrow 600 was remotely piloted through a series of navigation tasks designed to simulate real-world deployment scenarios. These included waypoint tracking, course correction under dynamic input, and close-quarters maneuvering — all intended to evaluate how effectively the platform responds to operator commands during live operations.
Throughout the trials, the vessel maintained stable communication with the ground control station, allowing operators to monitor telemetry data and adjust mission parameters in real time. This enabled participating stakeholders to evaluate not only the vessel’s physical handling on water, but also the reliability and usability of its command-and-control interface during sustained activity.
Particular attention was given to Arrow 600’s performance during simulated payload transport and extended-distance navigation. Even during complex directional changes and low-speed maneuvering, the vessel demonstrated consistent heading accuracy and system responsiveness. Its propulsion and steering systems reacted smoothly to operator input, reinforcing the platform’s suitability for tasks that demand both precision and agility in constrained maritime environments.
Insights gathered during the session are expected to inform ongoing development of the Arrow 600 platform and contribute to future evaluation processes related to advanced unmanned maritime systems. The successful demonstration marks a significant step in validating the vessel’s capabilities as a fast, adaptable, and payload-capable USV designed for modern operational requirements.
